New feature: Custom carry-forward deadlines for vacation days
We’re excited to announce a new feature in absentify that offers you greater flexibility in managing vacation days! 🎉
You can now set how long unused vacation days from the previous year can be carried over into the new year. In Settings > Allowance, you can choose a deadline of 1, 3, 6, 10 months, or more after the end of your fiscal year. For example, if your fiscal year ends on December 31 and you set a 3-month carry-forward period, employees can use their leftover days from the previous year until March 31.
Additionally, you can specify a maximum number of days that can be carried over beyond this deadline. For instance, if March 31 is the cut-off date and 5 days are allowed to carry forward, any extra days will expire, and only these 5 will remain available in the new fiscal year.
Important: This setting is applied retroactively, which means past balances will be recalculated. We recommend taking an Excel export or a screenshot of current balances before making changes. If adjustments are needed, you can manually update individual balances under Settings / Users / edit User / Allowance > Carry Over. As before, it’s still possible to manually override carryover amounts for specific users at any time.
We hope this new feature simplifies vacation management and gives you more options to tailor absentify to your team’s needs. Enjoy exploring the new possibilities!
